Like wildfire, the stories coming out of Harlem, NYC NY have caught the public's imagination. Not for a long time has the inner city black community had a role model to look up to, but here we have a man simply known as Luke Cage. This reporter wasn't able to dig up anything on him at all, except for his affinity for the color Yellow and his groovy catchphrase, "Sweet Christmas." Almost as if he came clear out of the blue only a few years ago, Luke Cage seemed to be a man who merely wanted to live his life on his terms; quiet and under the table. Clear traits of a man trying to hide something, his secret quickly was exposed when the barber shop he still works at to this day was shot up, gangland style when word a person of interest was spotted there. The proprietor, Henry "Pops" Hunter, the man who gave Cage a chance as an employee, no doubt encouraged Cage to use his abilities to help his community rather than hide from them. With a heavy heart, Hunter was unfortunately killed protecting the as-of-yet unnamed person of interest that the now deceased Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes had been looking for. Stokes had been the proprietor of Harlem Nights; a night club within the heart of the Harlem neighborhoods that seemed to be central in Stokes' criminal activities
What are these abilities, you might be asking? It would seem Luke Cage is a sort of Power Man with Super Strength and near Invincibility to call his own. How he acquired these abilities is anyone's guess, but the common theory going around Harlem seems to be he's one of the many Inhumans that have been popping up recently. Evidence that substantiates these claims is police and fire & rescue records that show Cage involved in a building collapse. Rescuing his now-former land lady when confronted with the unbelievable discovery of a military grade rocket launcher aimed right at him, fire & rescue discovered Cage under an impossible amount of rubble A-OK and reportedly with a cocky smirk on his face. In fact, most Harlem Residence have begun to sport Cage's discarded and bullet ridden hoodies he sported when confronting Stokes' criminal lackeys while thwarting and exposing The Stokes criminal empire. I hear there's a tailor in Hell's Kitchen that can help him with that while making him look rather spiffy at that.
In the aftermath of Stokes' death, at first believed to be perpetrated by Cage and immediately dismissed when Detective Misty Knight uncovered evidence to the contrary, Cage managed to take down Stokes' higher up, Willis "Diamondback" Stryker. While being taken in for just questioning and no charges filed against him, Cage was escorted out of the local police precinct by federal agents under unspecified connections to the Georgia based Police Officer-Turned-Criminal and now deceased, Carl Lucas. Cage's fate unsure, it's this reporter's intuition that says Harlem hasn't seen the last of Luke Cage.
Let's take a poll for all you True Believers out there. Is Cage a criminal or is he a Hero to his community?
